How hard is it to follow instructions?

I am one of those people who find it hard to follow instructions.  Is it truly THAT hard?  I gave it a bit of thought …

I was thinking of some scenario’s where instructions are given. 

Scenario 1 - I am sitting home in front of the television, cradled in my love’s arms.  It’s nice and warm.  My mom asks me to hang up the washing for her, because she has been running around the WHOLE day.  I roll my eyes, sigh and say okay.  20 minutes later, my mom hangs up the washing herself.  I get worked up because my mom just couldn’t wait, my mom is upset because I don’t help in and around the house.  Here both of our day is spoiled.  If I had just followed the instructions given, we would both be laughing and enjoying our day. 

Scenario 2 – I am at work, in a meeting and asked to follow something up.  I agree and a few weeks later I am asked about this.  Red in the face I have to get my way out of the pickle.  If I had just done it when asked, I wouldn’t have this extra stress.

Moral of my story … we receive different instructions, whether it be work, personal, study, or other.  It will be so much easier if we only followed the instruction correctly the first time.  It will save time, money, stress and a whole lot of tears.
